New Zealand 2012 Day 4 - Hobbiton & Rotorua

One of the most amazing places on earth - Hobbiton!

The Hobbiton Tour in Matamata (1 hour drive from Rotorua).
Tipscall them to ask for their tour schedule. The schedule in their website is not updated.

You do need to book and go with the tour to see Hobbiton. After you pay for your ticket, they will bring you to the shire by bus.

After that, we went to Waimangu Volcanic Valley

There are 3 stop points from the ticket office, there are Point A, B and C.

We walked from the counter to Point A. Took around 45 minutes. But to go from Point A to B, and B to C take lots of time, so we took the shuttle bus from Point A to Point C where the lake is located. There's an option to go on the boat tour which we did.

Once the boat tour finished, we took the bus to go back to the entrance.
and we headed to Kawarau Jetnot recommended.

If you are going to Queenstown, I would recommend Shotover Jet over this. I also did the para-sailing the next morning.

Tips: It's better to do this in the morning as after 3pm, the wind is stronger and it is very likely for them to close the attraction.
After that we went to Hells Gate Spa.

It was a weird experience. There are 2 most famous spa in Rotorua, this and Polynesian Spa (listed in the best 10 spas in the world). We didn't go to Polynesian Spa as I've been there before in 2009. Hellsgate Spa is expensive and I won't recommend you to go to this place. I'm very disappointed from this experience. The place is small, there's only 1 mud spa, and 2 sulfur spas. The worst thing is that, your clothes and other stuff will smell like sulfur! I threw some of my clothes because of this!

Tips: Go to Polynesian Spa.

There are many other things that you can do in Rotorua:
1. Agrodome - It's an animal show. Quite famous for tourist. Try this if you've never seen sheep shearing.
2. Agroventures - They have few attractions here: smaller version of Kawarau Jet, Smaller version of bungee jumping, etc.
3. Wai-o-Tapu Thermal Wonderland - It's a geothermal area showing few different thermal area and volcano activity.
4. Polynesian Spa
5. Tamaki Maori Village or Te Puia - A show of New Zealand culture, worth to see if you're into it. There are also 2 different Maori villages that offer buffet as well.
6. Skyline Rotorua - similar with the one in Queenstown.
