New Zealand 2012 Day 2 & 3 - Auckland, Paihia, Waitomo

Day 2 Auckland & Paihia

Our day started with a breakfast in our hotel room - cookies! Then, we went to Auckland bridge for bungee jumping. Unfortunately, the bus has already left the meeting point. We were late by 15 minutes. Apparentlythere's a schedule for the bungee.
Tips: Call and book ahead for bungee jumping at Auckland Bridge.

In the afternoon, we headed to Paihia, Bay of Island. It is located on the upper side of Auckland.

This picture is what made us want to go to Paihia.
It took us 3.5 hours to drive to Paihia and look what we found? Nothing close to Google.
As soon as we arrived in Paihia, we checked-in to our hotel. Rated one of the best hotel in Paihia - Sea Spray Suites ($180).
We didn't want to waste our day just like that. So, we went to Haruru Falls (10 mins drive from our hotel).

Paihia City Center
Then we had dinner in...I forgot the name. One of the top restaurants in Paihia and I had the seafood platter.

Day 3: Waitomo

Road Trip Scenery

Waitomo Glowworm Cave

There are 3 things that you can do here: Glowworm caves, Ruakuri caves and Aranui caves.
Due to time constraint, we decided to just see the glowworm cave. It is one of the most popular attractions in NZ.

  1. Onepoto Domain has become Auckland's premier model sail boat site..The park is also highly valued for the casual recreation opportunities it provides, including a children's adventure playground, walkways, barbecue, picnicking spots and 'learn to cycle paths'.Car Rental Auckland
